Created for the arts visionary Tony Goldman as an initiative to show everybody the importance of graffiti and street art in the world…
Wynwood Walls started in 2009 by co-curator Jeffrey Deitch and Goldman, who thought the graffiti was under appreciated and not respected historically.
With the certainty of carrying out such an ambitious project, Goldman gratiteros invited hundreds of artists known for his work in various parts of the world, including some in conflict.
And with great pride recently the artistic collective of graffiti in Bogota, Colombia Toxicómano with Erre Erre from Medellín…
Who now shares the recognition of his work published in one of the most influential places in the scene in the graffiti world, with artists such as Os Gemeos, Invader, Kenny Scharf, FUTURA 2000, Dearraindrop, FAILE, Bast, Shepard Fairey, Aiko , Sego, Saner, Liqen, never, Ben Jones, HOW & NOSM, Ryan McGinness, Jim Drain, Ara Peterson, Retna, Stelios Faitakis, Clare Rojas, among others.
Now Wynwood Walls program has seen over 50 artists representing 16 countries and have covered over 80,000 square feet of walls, like tells in their website thewynwoodwalls.com.
Some interesting of this incredible place is that it is completely free in Miami anda is divided in two places. Inside (Wynwood Door ) and outside (Wynwood walls).
And both places it offers visitors the experience to know different views on international politics through the vision of these artists from many countries with deep social inequalities.
